On-the-go Mac users can rest assured that on screen information is kept private and that their displays are protected from scratches

Bracknell, UK, 2 April 2012 – 3M, the diversified technology company, will be introducing a new range of custom cut privacy and protection products for Apple devices on Stand A40 at Infosecurity Europe 2012, 24-26 April, Earls Court, London. 3M Privacy Filters designed for Apple products will be available in standard black or gold for MacBook Pro notebooks (sizes 13-, 15- and 17-inch) and in standard black for iMac 27-inch. Alongside the MacBook Pro, 3M has extended its range of standard black and gold filters for MacBook Air (11- and 13-inch). For the iMac range of desktops, a 21.5-inch filter is now available and for the Thunderbolt Monitor a 27-inch filter has been added (both in standard black).

The filters offer excellent clarity and allow users to work privately in public places by blacking out on-screen information to anyone positioned to the side. 3M is also announcing upgrades to its screen protection product range, designed to safeguard iPhone and iPad displays.

Users of 3M Privacy Filters and 3M Privacy Screen Protectors can contribute to an organisation’s implementation of ISO27001(i), the international standard for Information Security Management Systems.

“In a recent survey of the IT Security industry, mobile devices were recognised as the second biggest security concern for information security professionals, behind only application vulnerabilities (ii),” said Rob Green, Marketing Executive for3M’s Mobile Interactive Solutions Division. “However, there are signs that organisations are responding to the visual data security challenges associated with mobile working. 3M has been active in raising awareness of the issue with the UK government, for example, and security policies are now being tightened. Large blue-chip organisations such as financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies and utilities are also adopting privacy filters.”

Privacy Filters for Mac users

3M Privacy Filters are already available for a wide range of laptop and desktop computers. With this latest range extension, Mac users can also now work in privacy when away from the office. As well as ensuring everything on-screen is kept private from prying eyes, the filters offer clearer, crisper on-screen images compared to competitive offerings and an innovative, washable adhesive attachment method.

The filters offer scratch and scuff resistance, while a reversible feature allows users to customise their displays and choose between glossy and matte with the standard black filters (MacBook Pro and iMac) or gold and black with the gold filters (MacBook Pro only).

3M Gold Privacy Filters for MacBook Pro notebooks provide twice the level of effective privacy as 3M’s standard black Privacy Filters by also reducing the viewable area from above and below (as well as side-to-side). Users see more clearly than ever while on-lookers see nothing but a vibrant golden screen.

Protection screen upgrades for iPhone and iPad

New additions to 3M Natural View Screen Protectors and 3M Privacy Screen Protectors will also be displayed on the stand at Infosecurity Europe. The first product line offers reduced front surface reflection and maintains a crystal clear image, even in bright conditions. The second product line delivers outstanding visual security from prying eyes. Both are ultra-thin, easy to apply, featuring a durable, scratch resistant coating and stay-clean edges that help maintain the device’s sleek appearance throughout its service.

3M Natural View Screen Protectors and 3M Privacy Screen Protectors are available for all iPhone and iPad models (soon to include the new iPad HD). They can be purchased online and from specialist IT dealers.
