This Saturday local people and visitors have the chance to support a South West based charity and secure a “one off” brand new designer dress from Jasper Conran, or a luxurious night at Devon’s famous Bovey Castle hotel, frequented by many a celebrity. These are just two of the tantalising lots being auctioned this Saturday, 17 April at the latest Brainwave charity fundraiser at Moretonhampstead Parish Hall. Admission to the event, which starts at 7.30pm, is just £5 and although the auction will be the highlight of the evening, there will also be delicious locally produced food available to buy as well as a bar and dancing to the sounds of local live band The Levi Moretons. Those who really cannot be there on the night are welcome to put in maximum sealed bids for the unique designer dress (size 12) – email: paulevans@brainwave.org.uk for further details. Brainwave receives no government funding and relies totally on donated gifts. It therefore relies on supporters to help the charity so that, in turn, it can help families with disabled children and other issues. Many will already be familiar with the excellent Brainwave charity shop based in Moretonhampstead. To quote one of the parents helped by Brainwave, ‘We walked away with a specific and comprehensive exercise regime. We can’t thank Brainwave enough for all the wonderful work they did, not only with our daughter, but also with us as a family. We all left on a high…..’ Car parking is limited near Moretonhampstead Parish Hall, but there are two public car parks in the village.
