AcadeMedia increases the number of children and students by 4.5 percent

The number of children and students in AcadeMedia’s three school segments increases with 4.5 percent during the first quarter of 2017/18 compared to the corresponding period  last year. This means that the average number of children and students attending one of the company’s preschools or schools is 68 098 (65 143) during the quarter. The numbers are preliminary. At the beginning of the fall semester seven new upper secondary schools  started in Sweden, in accordance with what was communicated earlier. In total 370 students started in year one in these seven schools. This means that for the first time the number of first years admitted to AcadeMedia’s upper secondary schools is 10 000. In the Pre- and compulsory school segment one preschool and two smaller compulsory schools closed before the start of the 17/18 academic year with approximately 310 children and students. Two new units started in the Preschool international segment, one in Germany and one in Norway.

The Pre- and compulsory school segment increases the average number of children and students by 1.6 percent to 31 111 (30 613) during the first quarter. The Upper secondary school segment increases the average number of students by 4.3 percent to 26 918 (25 802) in the first quarter. Preschool international is the segment which shows the strongest growth, 15.4 percent, to 10 069 (8 727) as a result of the acquisition of Stepke as well as other acquisitions and start-ups in Norway.
