Leading industry manufacturer ADEY Professional Heating Solutions is to receive a Queen’s Award.

The multi-award winning independent company’s latest accolade is regarded as one of the UK’s most prestigious achievements for business performance and follows a succession of industry and commercial honours since the company was founded less than a decade ago.

The Cheltenham company has been notified that Her Majesty The Queen has approved Prime Minister David Cameron’s recommendation that the business should receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

The company that invented the MagnaClean® filter, which maintains and protects central heating systems and reduces domestic heating bills and carbon emissions using magnetic technology, is to receive an invitation to attend The Queen’s Reception at Buckingham Palace.

ADEY’s filters are already protecting nearly 1.5 million heating systems in UK homes removing virtually 100% of the damaging suspended black iron oxide sludge that builds up in all central heating systems.

Company founder and inventor Chris Adey, a former British Gas installer, was delighted by the announcement and considers the award the highlight of an incredible ten years in business during which he has taken his idea from a start-up business in his garden shed to a multi-million pound British manufacturing success.

Today the company’s magnetic filters are specified by nearly 300 of the country’s largest local authorities and housing associations with tens of thousands being fitted every month and more than a third of a million fitted by British Gas.

“We’ve worked incredibly hard over recent years to get to where we are today and not only create a market, but establish ourselves at the forefront of that market in the UK,” says Chris Adey.

“To receive recognition at this level is an exceptional honour and this fantastic achievement has to be shared with every individual throughout the company who has contributed to our incredible success.”

“We’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to grow during a tough economic period and hopefully demonstrate that there are opportunities for companies that are innovative and prepared to take bold decisions when facing daunting business challenges.

“Fortunately, we have a strong team in place including some exceptional partners and I want everyone involved to feel part of this success. It’s very much a team effort.”

Last year the company was named Gloucestershire Business of the Year as well as a finalist in the PwC West of England Business of the Year. Industry accolades include CORGI Plumbing Manufacturer of the Year, the Phoenix Gas Achievement Award while also being listed No.1 manufacturing company in the Sunday Times  Fast Track 100 rankings in 2010.
