MT. VERNON, IOWA (July 21, 2014) – The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) – a non-profit international organization that serves to expand and improve the use of tilt-up as the preferred building system – will reopen judging of the 2014 Tilt-Up Achievement Awards Program to their Facebook fans.

According to Mitch Bloomquist, managing director of the TCA, this phase of the awards program will give the association’s Facebook fans the opportunity to weigh in on their favorite tilt-up project. “We started this for the 2012 Achievement Awards and the response was overwhelming,” said Bloomquist. Facebook voting will not replace traditional judging, though, he continued. “This opportunity is simply meant to increase awareness of the program. Projects will still be evaluated by a panel of judges through a separate process.”

To participate, watch TCA’s Facebook page for the submitted projects to be posted and ‘Like’ your favorite ones. Each project will be represented by one image and a brief description. “While this is only a fraction of the information our judges have access to in order to score the projects, we felt that too much information would be burdensome to this more informal and playful process,” added Bloomquist. Up to three projects will be recognized as Tilt-Up Achievement Awards winners through this process and will be designated as fan favorites.

The TCA Awards Program recognizes outstanding site cast tilt-up structures and advances in technology, products and methods used in the tilt-up industry. Each year, the submittal process closes in June to allow for the evaluation and award process that culminates with public announcement of the recipients during the TCA’s Convention in the fall. This year’s winning projects, including the fan favorites, will be announced at the Tilt-Up Awards Gala sponsored by Nox-Crete Products Group at the 2014 TCA Annual Convention in San Jose, Calif. on September 29.

About the TCA

TCA was founded in 1986 to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast tilt-up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place.  Tilt-up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S., combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
