Who Should You Follow? The Top 20 Industry Influencers in Construction Social Media

CARPINTERIA, Calif., April 14, 2015–– In an era of excessive information streaming on the Internet, it is difficult to discern where to find reliable, quality information. To find the best social media sources in the construction industry, Procore studied the postings of 200 different construction related accounts found on Twitter.

This was not a popularity contest, but rather, the goal was to determine which accounts supply well thought-out information. Procore filtered the accounts by those who presented thought-leadership, industry news or interesting, relevant information. The number of followers was not considered relevant––the influencers were chosen solely based on their information contributions to the industry.

“We wanted to find the best sources of information in our industry,” said Erica Konieczny, Marketing Associate at Procore. “We are encouraging people to follow the sources with the top content to receive the most up-to-date, relevant information.”

As expected, many of the influencers are trade industry magazines. But the rest of the results are an interesting compilation of companies, individuals, and online sites. The “winners” include: ENR, Construction Executive Magazine, Builder Online, Hard Hat Hub, Brand Constructors, Equipment Today, Global Construction Review, Construction News, ConstrucTech Magazine, Miron Construction, Concrete Construction Magazine, KHL Construction, BD+C Construction, Green Build, Construction Dive, Mabey, Inc., Construction Today Magazine, Mutual Industries, Brian Gallagher, and John Hill.
