Alfa Laval acquires a North American leader in integrated process solutions for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries Alfa Laval, a world leader in centrifugal separation, heat transfer and fluid handling, announced today the acquisition of the Life Science division, bioKinetics, from Kinetics Group Inc. in the U.S. as per October 2, 2003. "Life Science, which we define as pharmaceutical and biotech, is a market where we already today are active with all our core products. However, as the Life Science market shows a double-digit growth we have to secure that we penetrate this market and capture the potential. With the acquisition of bioKinetics, with a sales volume of around MSEK 550, we strengthen our position, combining their expertise and know-how with our existing know-how and our existing product portfolio. Their competence really enables us in a much better way to build value around our core products. We strengthen our market position" says Mr. Sigge Haraldsson, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. The bioKinetics company is a leader in technology-driven, integrated process solutions. Their main products are modular designs that mainly focus at mammalian cell cultures.
