Travel Insurance Company Provides Scholarships for Students Wanting to Travel Abroad

Allianz Global Assistance USA, a leading travel insurance provider, has announced the winners of the national “ScholarTrips” video contest. ScholarTrips provides scholarships to students who want to study or volunteer abroad.  Launched in conjunction with the company’s travel agent partners, the contest generated video submissions from high school and college students from around the country. During each video, students were asked to explain why they wanted to travel abroad and how they expected to benefit from the experience.

After a review of the videos by an expert panel, ten students were each awarded a $1,500 scholarship to use for travel and will be covered by Allianz Travel Insurance while on their trips. The ScholarTrips Contest was established in 2004 and has awarded over $80,000 in travel scholarships since its inception.

Video submissions were judged by an expert panel of travel professionals that included:

Karyn Todd, Senior Vice President, Cruise.com

Michelle Fee, President, Cruise Planners

Lee Hurd, Executive Vice President of American Express/Bursch Travel

Scott Koepf, Vice President of Sales, Avoya Travel

The scholarship winners and their videos are:

“We are proud of all of the students who submitted videos for consideration. Each video submission showed that students want to learn more about the world around them by experiencing everything that travel has to offer,” said Alan Josephs, chief marketing officer of Allianz Global Assistance USA.  “We hope that by providing students with the resources to travel, they will enrich their lives and the lives of those they meet.”
