Scholarships to Study Abroad Help Turn the World into a Classroom

“ScholarTrips,” an Allianz Global Assistance USA scholarship program designed to support international study and volunteer programs, has launched its 2014 video essay contest. Believing that study abroad programs are critical to a student’s development and help promote the benefits of travel, Allianz Global Assistance USA wants to turn the world into one big classroom by encouraging global exchanges.

Since 2004, Allianz Global Assistance has awarded over $65,000 in travel scholarships to students who demonstrate a desire to learn or help others through travel.  The goal of this year’s video contest is to provide students aged 14-21 with a platform to showcase their creativity by explaining how an exchange program will enrich their lives. By promoting these videos to friends and family and getting votes, students will be eligible to win one of ten $1,500 scholarships*.

This year, Allianz Global Assistance has provided travel agents with tools to promote the contest with local media and on their social media platforms.  Travel agents can use the Scholartrips travel agent toolkit to connect with customers and potential customers who may be interested in entering the contest.  The toolkit can be found at scholartripscontest.com by clicking on the “toolkit” tab.

“We believe that some of the best educational opportunities happen outside of the classroom, such as in international exchange programs that promote travel, cultural understanding and personal growth. Scholartrips can help students enrich their lives through these experiences and make travel dreams a reality,” said Joe Mason, Chief Marketing Officer of Allianz Global Assistance USA.

The ScholarTrips Contest will run September 9th through November 4th. To participate, students will record and edit a 60-90 second video answering the question “What do you expect to learn from your experience traveling abroad or volunteering away from home?”  The 30 videos with the most votes will move to the finalists round where travel experts will decide on the ten winners. Full details can be found at scholartripscontest.com.
