Allianz Global Assistance presents the latest mobility-related innovations and uses

In March 2015, Allianz Global Assistance launched its mobility observatory to detect the early signs and clues of mobility trends around the world in order to anticipate future uses of mobile technology.

Drawing on the expertise of research firm Soon Soon Soon[1], Allianz Global Assistance identified the latest mobility-related initiatives occurring throughout the world. Research suggests these trends could seriously alter consumer’s lifestyles.

Allianz Global Assistance provides a review of the latest mobile initiatives on the mobility website http://www.reinventmobility.com. These initiatives have been identified within the observatory’s top ten mobility trend categories: Modular Life, Smart City Mobility, Relational Mobility, Work here, there and differently, Space Sharing, Extreme Tourism, Experiential Mobility, Mood Tracking, Civic Mobility, and Virtual Mobility.

Modular Life

Although cities are growing and spreading in every direction, space is becoming more difficult to come by, and this is creating a need for increased flexibility in working and living. These two initiatives demonstrate increased creativity in creating schools and homes:

  • Boxchool is a Korean concept for a modular, nomadic school. Built from containers, it can substitute for a traditional school and enables children living in the most isolated areas to benefit from classes and a basic education.
  • Ecocapsule is a real home that is totally energy self-sufficient thanks to renewable energies and its ability to capture and filter rainwater. It can be hitched to the back of a car and transported like a trailer, and adapts to every geographical configuration.

Relational Mobility

21st century nomads share everything, even during their travels. Time, meeting areas and means of transportation are now sharable. This trend has brought in the age of collaborative consumption boosted by crowdsourcing and digital devices, and animated by a community that shares a common belief: the reinvention of ownership.  Connecting with local residents is often a goal of these modern-day nomads:

  • My+One: live the local life with a local. My+One is the first site of its kind to sell “packages” that include hotel accommodations and meeting up with a “local.”

Smart City Mobility

As they become “smarter,” tomorrow’s cities will be more mobile-friendly as they become easier to navigate. In the city of the future, it will be easier to find what you are looking for:

What3words makes it possible to indicate a location with only 3 words. What3words is a universal addressing system based on a 3mx3m global grid.  Each of the 57 trillion 3mx3m squares in the world has been pre-allocated a fixed and unique 3 word address. What3words changes the way we share an address by using words that are simple, efficient and easy to remember.
