PHILADELPHIA, PA April 9, 2014 – American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI CLE) is pleased to announce its upcoming program, The False Claims Act Institute Co-sponsored by the New York City Bar Association, that will take place on May 13, 2014 at the New York City Bar Association in New York, NY. The program is chaired by: Neil Getnick of Getnick & Getnick LLP; Virginia Gibson of Hogan Lovells; Gregory M. Luce, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP; Brian J. McCormick, Jr. of Ross Feller Casey, LLP and Honorary Chair Carolyn Pokorny of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern Division of New York.

With the increase in False Claims Act (FCA) investigations and their potential for expensive litigation, practitioners across the country are scrambling to stay current in this ever-evolving area of law. Their clients face significant threats not only to their financial wellbeing, but to their reputations as well.

This comprehensive, one-day CLE program explores the essential considerations and emerging issues of FCA work today. Taught by a varied panel comprising representatives from various US Attorneys’ Offices and private practitioners who are reputed for their expertise in FCA claims and who hail from the government, relator, and defense bars, this program offers registrants a 360-degree discussion of the key issues.  “The program faculty represent a broad and deep cross section from the Government and the relators’ and defense bars.  Together they will address the most significant issues affecting False Claims Act and whistleblower practice today both theoretically and practically.  This is the “go to” program.”, said Neil Getnick, one of the program chairs. Some of the trending topics that will be covered include parallel civil and criminal proceedings, damage theories, ethical concerns when advancing a case, emerging issues in healthcare and financial FCA matters, and multijurisdictional practice.

Co-sponsored by two of the top CLE providers in the country, American Law Institute and New York City Bar Association, this course provides 6-8 CLE credits including ethics. To register or obtain further information, click here.
