Nursing/Allied Health Course Explores Fat Reduction and Other Laser Applications

Laser 2014 will include a Nursing/Allied Health Course on Thursday, April 3 as part of the 34th Annual International Conference of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS), April 2-6, 2014, Phoenix, AZ.

The unique activity will offer a forum for discussion to explore the educational needs of the attendees during roundtable discussions with experienced providers and educators.

“I am extremely excited about this particular year’s lineup of presenters! Attendees should prepare for a serious knowledge packed day. All will leave with a broader understanding of today’s advancements in laser technology,” noted Laurie C. Grizzard, R.N., B.S.N., Co-Director. Ms. Grizzard has worked as an R.N. for EpiCentre Parklane and Dr. A. Jay Burns since 2010 and performs multiple types of laser and aesthetic device treatments including involvement in research and IRB studies. In addition, she along with her nurse manager, makeup one of the top 50 injectable offices in the US.

Course content includes the importance of laser safety, increasing the knowledge base of lasers, light sources, and other devices, basic principles behind laser tissue interaction, and the latest advancements in fat reduction using various devices, to name a few.

“The Nursing/Allied Health Course provides one of the few avenues for laser/light source education.  We have internationally known speakers sharing cutting edge information in small group settings with time set aside for peer-to-peer interaction,” said Rebecca L. Sprague, R.N., N.P.-C., Co-Director. Ms. Rebecca L. Sprague is a nurse practitioner/physician’s assistant for the Laser Skin Surgery Center of Northern California. Her areas of interest include a variety of laser treatments, skin cancer monitoring, acne treatments and the use of neurotoxins and fillers.

The course is designed for nurses and allied health professionals seeking information and education necessary to be safe and effective in the roles they play in the delivery of laser treatment.

Students and residents are admitted free of charge. Registration rates are $790 for members/applicants and $1,075 for non-members.
