Texas Research Associate and Professor Collaborate on Research Session

Laser 2014 will offer Experimental and Translational Research Sessions, Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, as part of the 34th Annual Conference of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS), April 2-6, 2014, Phoenix, AZ.

The sessions will promote understanding of basic processes of light interaction with tissue and cells, design of light-based diagnostic and therapeutic devices and techniques, and early translation of this knowledge to clinical application.

Tianyi Wang, Ph.D., Co-Director, commented, “This session will provide attendees with knowledge of cutting- edge advances in optical diagnostics and therapeutics, and their early translation to the clinical management of patients. Novel results are presented that will impact the new applications of laser technology/light therapy, novel applications of nanoparticles, laser surgery and translational optical diagnostic techniques.” Dr. Wang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Texas at Austin and a member of the ASLMS Research and Development Committee.

“Hot Topics” include new applications of fractional ablative technology, low level light therapy, novel diagnostic and therapeutic applications of nanoparticles, femtosecond laser surgery, and translational optical diagnostic techniques.

James W. Tunnell, Ph.D. will serve as Co-Director. Dr. Tunnell is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He also chairs the Research and Development Committee and serves as a Basic Science Representative on the Board of Directors for ASLMS.

Scientists, engineers, medical practitioners as well as other health care professionals involved in biomedical applications of lasers are invited to attend.

Conference registration is $790 for members or applicants and $1,075 for non-members. Students and residents are admitted free of charge.
