Leicester diners were out in force at the latest Dining on a Diet event from U Fit Studio, after the gym teamed up with a popular city restaurant to show people how to make healthier choices when enjoying fine dining.

A total of 46 diners, including Neil Watson, Travaugh Wright and Billy Reeda of the Leicester Riders basketball team, tucked into a seven course taster menu at the White Peacock, on New Walk, which included a trio of bloody Mary, roasted wood pigeon and Cotswold white chicken.

Joe Hanney, who owns U Fit Studio on Barkby Road, worked with chef patron Phillip Sharpe to devise a mouth-watering, yet healthy, combination of dishes that proved a big hit with diners.

Attendees, including people from the business community and local food bloggers, also dug deep to raise an impressive £100 for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy charity Alex’s Wish at the event, which was organised with help from Jenny Cross of Cross Productions.

Joe comments: “We are thrilled with the turnout for this event and with all of the positive feedback we have received from diners who joined us at the White Peacock.

“We devised an innovative menu that allowed guests to enjoy a seven course fine dining taster menu with confidence, as we purposely designed each dish to be healthy and nutritious. These events are designed to help diners feel less intimidated when eating out, as it demonstrates how you can still keep to a healthy eating plan while still enjoying your food. Diners were really impressed with Phillip’s creative menu, which provided an interesting blend of flavours throughout the seven courses.

“We are also delighted to have raised such a great sum of money for Alex’s Wish, which will make such a difference to this local good cause.”

The next Dining on a Diet event will take place at North Bar and Kitchen at 7pm on Thursday 19th November. For more details on the event go to www.ufitstudio.co.uk or call 0116 276 3411.
