Aspiro TV, Europe’s leading provider of TV and video streaming services expand its deliveries to Telenor in connection with the telco’s increased initiatives for TV and video services in the Nordic countries.

Thorough the partnership, Aspiro will deliver TV and video services to a broad range of terminals including smart phones and tablets. The cooperation begins with the Norwegian market, but similar services are intended to launch in other Telenor markets in and outside the Nordic countries further ahead.

In an inital phase, Aspiro will deliver new clients for iPhone and Android, followed by a “Tippeliga”-application for the Norwegian premier soccer division for the same mobile platforms as well as Android and iOS-based tablets. This is a continuation of the Max Fotball and TVNorge’s soccer service recently launched in cooperation with Telenor’s internet services company Comoyo.

The new TV-clients for iPhone and Android will soon be available in iTunes App Store and Android Market, and supports streaming over mobile or WiFi networks. The new offer allows Telenor users to watch TV on iPhone and Android phones with Aspiro TV’s unique functionality for fast channel switching and automatic bandwidth adaption.

- It’s important for Comoyo to offer access to our services independent of the size of the screen the customer uses. Telenor previously launched mobile-TV to a select number of terminals in cooperation with Aspiro. Now we are exited to reach all our customers using an Android or iPhone handset, and we are looking forward to doing this in cooperation with Aspiro, says Sven Størmer Thaulow, CEO of Telenor-company Comoyo.

– There is no doubt that the appetite to watch TV on the go increases significantly when people get access to new mobile phones and tablets with larger screens and user friendly applications. We are pleased to see that that Telenor now chooses to increase its TV offerings, which is very much in line with our strategy going forward. Aspiro TV will become a complete provider of TV- and video streaming services. We expect to see a sharp increase of user numbers in Norway as a result of this launch, as we have seen with previous launches on other markets, says Erling Paulsen, CEO of Aspiro TV.

Aspiro TV provides compelling TV and video services to operators who wish to use their own brand on the service, and delivers to the likes of Deutsche Telekom, Telefónica O2, Hi3G and Telenor. The company has its main focus on the European market.
