Stockholm, Sweden, April 7, 2014: Atlas Copco, a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions, plans to move the operations of two of its mining equipment production facilities in Sweden to its competence center in Örebro. The aim is to increase efficiency and strengthen the company for the future.

Atlas Copco plans to close the facilities of Atlas Copco Craelius AB in Märsta and Atlas Copco GIA AB in Grängesberg, relocating operations to Örebro, Sweden. The two companies employ 185 people in total. The vast majority of the employees will be offered to stay with the Group.

“We have a great product portfolio and tremendous skills that we are now planning to add to our competence center in Örebro in order to increase efficiency and capitalize on the synergies,” said Johan Halling, President for the Mining and Rock Excavation Technique business area. “This change helps us adapt to the current mining market situation with lower demands, and will ensure that we stay strong and agile for the future.”

At Märsta, Atlas Copco manufactures mining equipment such as exploration drilling rigs. At Grängesberg, Atlas Copco produces mining equipment including underground loaders, utility vehicles and ventilation systems. Both operations serve the global market.

There will be approximately MSEK 75 in restructuring costs, booked in the first quarter 2014.
