Calgary, Canada – Desmarais Energy Corporation (TSXV: DES) announced at the close of trading Tuesday that it extended its land holding at Barrhead by 1120 acres, bringing the total property under control to more than 15,700 net acres.

A number of drilling locations for both oil and gas targets have been identified with this acquisition, though no further details were released, accept that the decision to bid on the properties was based on Desmarais Energy already having seismic control.

Desmarais Energy’s plans call for working over eight shut-in gas wells on its Barrhead property, which is located in West Central Alberta Canada.  In late March, the Company announced the casing of its second well at Barrhead.  Testing evaluation is slated to be released shortly.

Desmarais is weighted 75% toward natural gas, but follow up drilling to offset a recent oil discovery may bring the weighting more toward a 50:50 balance with medium gravity sweet oil.  Current production is approximately 50 boepd (25% oil).
