Supporting up-and-coming designers and chosen by the public

August 25, 2016 – Bemz, the company known for its designer covers for IKEA furniture, announces the launch of five winning designs chosen via the international Bemz Design Award added today to the Bemz designer collection to be sold worldwide. The new fabrics designed by four student winners and one public winner, including UK winner Roseanne Jack of the The Glasgow School of Art, were chosen through public vote. A third edition of the competition to be hosted by Bemz starting in September 2017 was also announced – with the same objective: to support designers of tomorrow!

Design by Anna Möller: winning design in the Bemz Design Award 2016, För att Himlen är Blå Deep Navy Blue. För att Himlen är Blå is Swedish for Because the Sky is Blue. Anna's design is inspired by traditional Chinese ink paintings and is an homage to Swedish nature and its abundant fresh air. Anna’s design was picked as the overall winner by the international panel of expert judges. Anna Möller attends Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.

Design by Roseanne Jack: winning UK design, Urquhart Light Denim BlueRoseanne Jack attends The Glasgow School of Art specialising in knitted textile design. Her design, Urquhart is named after the sheep farm where she grew up in Fife, Scotland.

Design by Charlène Juille: winning French design, Flying on Ice Mineral Blue. Inspired by the sharp, cracked icebergs and birds of Iceland, Charlène's pattern was originally created in Chinese ink and watercolour playing on blue tones. Charlène Juille attends Ecole Supérieure d'Art Françoise Conte in Paris.

Design by Lena Maier: winning German design, Artiskok Light Olive Green. Lena's design represents abstract artichoke flowers and is complimented with bright, clear and contrastingly rich colours to create a Scandinavian style. Lena Maier attends Deutsche Meisterschule für Mode Designschule in Munich.

Design by Virginie Roblin: winner of the Public category, Vases Graphiques Absolute WhiteVirginie's design was inspired by houseplants and 1950s designers (including Lucienne Day and Stig Lindberg). Virginie Roblin is from France.

They can be purchased via www.bemz.com, where free fabric samples of favourites can also be ordered. In December 2009, Bemz opened an Inspiration Store at Odengatan 22, in Stockholm – a store and an inspiration workshop in one. At Bemz, whether shopping for the bedroom, dining room or living room, all products can be freely mixed and matched with the existing Bemz range of fabrics and custom textile products to create a completely individual look. The Bemz range was extended to include bedroom products in 2011 and made-to-measure curtains and products for kids’ rooms in 2013.
