Bravida is assigned by Skanska to deliver all installations within electrics, tele and data communications and security systems when Tønsberg hospital in Norwegian Vestfold expands. This is yet another hospital project in a long line of similar projects that Bravida has won in the past few years.

In the Tønsberg project, Bravida will be responsible for all installations concerning electrics, tele and data communications, including entry control and video surveillance. The general contractors are Skanska AS and Skanska UK. Total cost for the project is estimated at SEK 2.5 billion (January 2014), of which 1.3 billion are allocated for construction including installations.

– For Bravida, this will be an order of considerable size. The project is still in its initial stages, and the order value will be determined after an initial pre-project. According to our experience, electrical installations usually make out around 10-15 percent of total construction costs in similar projects, depending on the chosen solution, quality, interface and building time, says Tore Bakke, Division Manager at Bravida Norway.

Bravida has won several large hospital projects in the past few years, for example in Østfold and Tromsø in Norway, Nya Karolinska and Värnamo Hospital in Sweden, and Aarhus hospital in Denmark.

– It’s great that Bravida has been entrusted with yet another hospital assignment. It points to Bravida’s large competence in the area. A project of this magnitude means a considerable addition to our growing volume of orders, says Mattias Johansson, CEO and Group President, Bravida.

The Tønsberg Project Director, Johan Arnt Vatnan, emphasizes the project’s ambitious targets on the cost side.

– We have to break the trend of ever-increasing costs in Norwegian hospital building projects. The Tønsberg expansion will be a pilot project with new types of contracting strategies, BIM and digital cooperation, to mention the most important parts, says Johan Arnt Vatnan.

The initial pre-project will start immediately, with an estimated completion at the end of 2016. The project owner will deliver the final go-ahead for the build start and financing during Q1, 2017. In total, five Bravida departments will be involved in the project.
