Andrea Williams, Helen Orchel, Chris Tate, Sue Moore, Jodie Hobbs and Katie Petch took on the Oriental challenge from 9 to 17 April to support friends and family who have had breast cancer. On the trip the group, who called themselves the Hemlington Hoppers, climbed 25,000 steps as they trekked through the scenic mountain ranges before ending at Beijing to explore the culture of China’s capital city. In total they raised a whopping £19,844 to help Breast Cancer Campaign fund innovative world-class breast cancer research. Andrea said: “We all absolutely loved trekking the Great Wall of China, it was such a fantastic experience and although it was tough, we all stuck together and have returned with some unforgettable memories. We were proud to support Breast Cancer Campaign on this challenge, as supporting breast cancer research is a cause close to our hearts. The China trek was a culmination of a year of fundraising so I’m thrilled we have raised so much money and want to thank all those who sponsored us.” The teachers have raised almost £20,000 for breast cancer research so if you would like to help them reach their target, please visit www.justgiving.com/HEMLINGTON-HOPPERS and donate what you can.
