Press Release For immediate use: 6 April 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local walk to help beat breast cancer this spring Budding walkers Abbi Curtis and Darren Theobald from Sudbury will lace up their walking boots next month to take part in a six mile walk for Breast Cancer Campaign. Lots of friends and family are joining the pair on the Friendship Walk along the old railway line to Rodbridge picnic site and back again on Sunday 9 May and Darren and Abbi would love more people in their community to put their best foot forward for breast cancer research. The Sudbury pair decided to hold the Sunday stroll for Breast Cancer Campaign as both have been closely touched by breast cancer and decided this was a way to help others avoid what they have been through. This is also currently the only walk in Sudbury. Darren said: “I’m very excited about holding this walk to support the 46,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year. Especially as it is being held in Sudbury, I’m thrilled that 50 people have already pledged their support to walk with Abbi and I, but I’d love more people to get involved and help us raise much needed funds to help the charity beat breast cancer.” The walk starts at 10am at the Kingfisher Leisure Centre and will end at approximately 2pm back at the Leisure Centre. Registration costs £5 per adult, £2 per child. All walkers are encouraged to raise sponsorship which will help Campaign fund innovative breast cancer research. Walkers can choose to walk in memory of a lost relative or friend or just turn up and help raise funds towards beating this disease and of course pink clothing is a must. Pink t-shirts for adults and children have been specially made for the Sudbury walk and are available to pre-order for £7. These have been kindly supplied by Chilton Office Supplies. Tickets for the walk along with t-shirt order forms are available from Millie Moo’s, 41 Market Hill, Sudbury. If you would like to join Darren and Abbi on the day, or if you would like more information, please call Darren on 01787 375111 or 07872 969230 Alternatively, if you cannot attend the walk but would like to arrange your own Friendship Walk for Breast Cancer Campaign please call 0207 749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org.
