Press Release For immediate release: 26 April 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Two marathon efforts to beat breast cancer Breast Cancer Campaign is encouraging all budding runners to cross the Atlantic and fly the British flag for breast cancer research at the Chicago and New York marathons. If you watched Sunday’s Virgin London Marathon in awe and would like to tackle 26.2 miles, Campaign has places available for both runs and needs you to join the stateside race to beat breast cancer. This year 70,000 runners are expected to pound the pavements in the Windy City on Sunday 10 October and the Big Apple on Sunday 7 November while raising thousands of pounds for charities around the world. Events Executive, Karen Lambert, said: “The Chicago and New York marathons are two fantastic road races and we’re delighted that several people in the UK have already signed up to tackle these runs for Campaign. We have six places for Chicago and are hoping to be joined by 15 for New York so please join our team and cross the pond to support the 125 people who are sadly diagnosed with breast cancer every day in the UK.” To run for Campaign, please call the Events team on 0207 749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org All runners who sign up automatically become members of Campaign’s exclusive club Linford’s All Stars. As an All Star you will receive helpful training advice from the team’s Captain Linford Christie as well as unrivalled support from Campaign staff.
