Mrs Gladys Best, a resident of Bupa’s Aylesham Court Nursing and Residential Home, Hinckley Road, Leicester, is looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday on Friday 18 September. Gladys was born in 1909 and lived much of her life in Barwell and Earls Shilton, in the south east of Leicester. Gladys was married and raised a son and daughter and now has two great grandchildren. Gladys regularly attended church, was a member of the Mothers Union and devoted much of her life to her children. Her passions include gardening and flower arranging and she receives weekly flower deliveries from her daughter. The home will be hosting a party for Gladys, her family, residents and employees from 3pm and she will receive a specially made birthday cake to commemorate the occasion. Jimmy Riddle, a professional entertainer will be entertaining guests at the party with an array of singing, impersonations, music and magic. Wendy Bridge, home manager of Aylesham Court Nursing and Residential Home, says: “We’re delighted to be able to share this special occasion with Gladys and her friends.
