Sacramento, California [November 21, 2016] – Three California Association of Boutique & Breakfast Inns (CABBI) members were honored at the California Hotel & Lodging Association’s (CH&LA) 2016 Stars of the Industry Awards announced on Friday at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. The annual Stars of the Industry Awards, presented by USA TODAY, are given out to honor lodging employees and properties that symbolize the best of the industry.

Ann Callahan, owner of Hillcrest House Bed & Breakfast in San Diego, was awarded as the Outstanding General Manager of the Year for a small property. This award honors a hotelier who has demonstrated superior professionalism in operating a CH&LA or CABBI member property and taken a leadership role in the industry by actively participating in association, community, or industry programs. Ms. Callahan has been a sole proprietor of Hillcrest House Bed & Breakfast for 10 years and during that time has served on the CABBI Council, on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Tourism Association, and is the current Chair of the InnSpire Conference Committee.

Carol & Jim Beazley, owners of the Beazley House Bed & Breakfast in Napa, were awarded the Peggy Mosley Industry Champion Award for their commitment to the bed and breakfast industry and their community. This award was created to honor the memory and accomplishments of CABBI founding member Peggy Mosley, and to recognize those who have shown the same dedication to the industry. Carol & Jim Beazley have run the Beazley House Bed & Breakfast for 35 years and are credited with opening the first bed and breakfast in the city of Napa. The Beazleys are founding members of CABBI and are very active on the CABBI Council and the annual InnSpire Conference Committee. They also are founding members of the Napa Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Association and helped to establish the annual Holiday Tour of Historic Inns, a popular event that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local Napa charities.

“The California Hotel & Lodging Association is honored to recognize these CABBI member innkeepers for their dedication to the industry,” said CH&LA President & CEO Lynn Mohrfeld.  “Our congratulations go out to Ann Callahan and Jim and Carol Beazley for their accomplishments in the bed and breakfast industry and in their communities.”
