Unique Pools at California Inns

SACRAMENTO, CA [July 29, 2015]--Dive into one of the many unique pools among California inns this summer.  Several members of the California Association of Boutique and Breakfast Inns offer stunning pools to soak up the sun, find relaxation, and take in inspiring views.

Slip into silky, soothing mineral-spring waters to enjoy a midnight soak under the stars at the El Morocco Inn & Spa in Desert Hot Springs.  The Moroccan-inspired retreat features a heated swimming pool and large hot tub with healing spring-fed mineral waters that are open 24 hours a day. Twinkling Moroccan lanterns around the perimeter of the pool and the flickering glow from two poolside fireplaces add to the enchantment.  In the evening, guests can enjoy a complimentary “Morocco-tinis” served in sugar-rimmed acrylic martini glass that they can take right into the pool. In addition, a complimentary continental breakfast is served poolside each morning.

Surrounded by desert blooms and succulents, Las Fuentes Inn and Gardens in Palm Springs features a heated, 60-foot saltwater lap pool with a new outdoor shower.  Stay cool while lounging on the shaded patio, which has a built-in misting system.  Radiating the spirit of the California desert, the private and contemporary single-suite inn also offers spectacular night lighting, trickling water fountains and views of the desert sky.  Visitors will enjoy thoughtful touches like modern Native American art, a Japanese spa with steam shower, premium spa products and fine linens.

Set against the backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains, Casa Cody Inn is a historic, romantic hideaway inspired by early California adobe hacienda architecture.  It was built in the 1920s by a cousin of Buffalo Bill Cody and is the oldest operating hotel in Palm Springs. The inn has two inviting pools: a free-form swimming pool encircled by palm trees and lounge chairs and a lap pool surrounded by lush bougainvillea. There’s also secluded, tree-shaded whirlpool spa.  Guest rooms include studios, suites, a cottage and a two-bedroom historic adobe; many of the rooms feature fireplaces, private patios and fully equipped kitchens.

The rimless, modern pool design at the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn & Spa in Los Olivos is like a shimmering sheet of glass: the edges of the pool deck and the water appear to blur into one.  Along one side of the pool, there is a sprawling succulent wall with an unexpected coonskin cap design. A shaded arbor with comfortable seating sits at one end; chaise lounges line both sides.  Poolside services from Petros Restaurant are available on weekends through the summer.  The luxury boutique hotel was founded upon the tradition and ideals of Mr. Fess Parker, and provides guests with ultimate getaway in a personalized and intimate setting.

The spacious swimming pool and outdoor patios at the Candlelight Inn in Napa are set against a backdrop of carefully-tended gardens, trees, and a shady, wisteria-draped arbor. Intimate groupings of lounge chairs with market umbrellas provide quiet spots for poolside relaxation.  The built in 1929, the elegant, English Tudor-style estate offers 10 richly-appointed guest rooms, all with private baths. Some of the rooms feature spa tubs for two and private decks for enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the inn’s secluded setting.  The inn offers in-room massage and a three-course gourmet breakfast is served daily.

In Calistoga, the Chanric Inn’s pool and whirlpool offers beautiful views of the Napa Palisades.  The secluded pool sits at the top of a terraced hillside ringed by trees, a garden of roses and stonework created by a local artisan. Elegant pillar candles flicker around the edges of the heated pool, which is open until 10:00 p.m. each evening for soaking under the stars.  Inside, the renovated hotel features modern designer furnishings, luxurious linens, muted color palettes and inviting private baths with contemporary stone vessel sinks and Thierry Mugler spa products.

Greenhouses line the back of the Stanford Inn’s 10-acre farm in Mendocino, where the inn grows starts for its organic gardens along with hot house tomatoes and peppers.  The organic herbs and vegetables are the signature ingredients for the inn’s award-winning vegan restaurant, Ravens. So it’s only fitting that Stanford Inn’s indoor pool is housed in a large, heated solarium that could easily be mistaken for just another greenhouse.  Lined with tropical plants, the steamy solarium also houses a hot tub and sauna.  In addition to the pool and restaurant, the eco-resort also offers elegant guest rooms, a range of spa treatments, and canoeing, kayaking and mountain biking along Big River.

Benbow Historic Inn offers plenty of ways to help their guests cool off in the heat of the summer. The pool area offers a family size pool, Jacuzzi, and an exclusive splash park with various fountains and water features that are perfect for families and kids of all ages. The pool area is adjacent to the golf course and offers stunning views of the redwoods. The historic inn in Garberville features an award-winning dining room and wine cellar, outdoor summer music series, sport court and more.
