Quarterly report July - September 2014

Lower sales in Sweden while other markets continue the positive development

Third quarter

  • Volume decreased by 8.9 % in the third quarter, explained by lower sales in Sweden
  • Net sales decreased by 2.7 % to MSEK 415.9 (427.6). Measured in constant currency the decrease was 6.1 %
  • The underlying EBIT amounted to MSEK 18.6 (25.3), a decrease explained by lower sales in the Swedish market
  • Decreasing sales in Sweden was partly compensated by continued positive development primarily in Denmark and Norway

First nine months

  • Volume was stable in the first nine months, with a minor decline of 0.5 %. International sales continue to develop favorably, mainly driven by strong growth in Denmark. Excluding Sweden, where sales development has been weak, volume increased by 5.2 %
  • Net sales increased by 2.3 % to MSEK 1320.5 (1290.9). Measured in constant currency net sales was in the same level as last year
  • The underlying EBIT amounted to MSEK 47.9 (71.3), a decrease primarily explained by increased cost of goods sold, mainly as a consequence of adverse currency fluctuations, and decreased sales in Sweden

CEO Comment

“It is positive to see that our gross margin improves, which is primarily driven by strong growth in markets with healthy profitability and to some extent due to price increases. Our focus going forward is to strengthen our offer in Sweden as well as to review the need for further price increases.” says Fredrik von Oelreich, President & CEO at Candyking
