Capio closes acquisition of the Swedish healthcare group Backa Läkarhus

The acquisition of Backa Läkarhus AB “Backa”, announced on January 3, 2017, has now been approved by the affected county councils (Region Västra Götaland and Region Halland) and the Swedish Competition Authority. Hence, Capio closes the acquisition as of today, and includes Backa in Capio as from March 1, 2017.

Backa operates eleven primary care centers and nine rehabilitation centers in Region Västra Götaland, and one light accident and emergency center in Region Halland. In total, Backa has 83,000 listed patients, and in 2016 net sales were around MSEK 370. Capio acquires 100% of the shares in Backa. Enterprise value is MSEK 300 and yearly synergy effects of in total approximately MSEK 10 are expected to be realized over the coming two years. The acquisition of Backa comple­ments and strengthens Capio’s presence and medical offering within primary care in the western parts of Sweden. Backa is expec­ted to have a positive impact on Capio’s earnings during 2017.
