Bury-based used-car dealership cartime has teamed up with Key 103 Cash for Kids in launching Mission Christmas. The team are inviting people down to the showroom to donate presents for disadvantaged local children, and have also pledged to donate £50 for every car sold in December.

1 in 3 children are living in poverty in Greater Manchester. The aim of Cash for Kids’ Mission is to spread the Christmas spirit by fundraising and collecting presents for these children, in the hope of making their Christmas mornings special. The cartime showroom is a drop off point for presents, which should be new and unwrapped and suitable for children or young adults aged 0-18 years old.

On the 17thDecember, Key 103 will be hosting a 12-hour outside broadcast at Bathroom Takeaway located in Trafford Park, with a large, festive marquee as final present drop off point where partners, retailers and the general public will be invited to leave gifts. cartime Director Matt Kay will be on-air, live at 8:45am on Mike and Chelsea’s Breakfast Show to donate the cheque from the dealership’s own fundraising.

Matt said, “The fact that child poverty is still an issue, not only in Greater Manchester but across the UK, is shocking. When we heard about this fantastic cause, we jumped at the chance to register cartime HQ as a present drop-off point and do our bit. That’s why we’re also donating an extra £50 for every car sold in December, so we’re encouraging our customers to pop down to the showroom with any extra presents and help us spread the Christmas cheer.”

Mission Christmas has been set up in partnership with The Manchester Evening News and supported by B&MUKFastOptegra and Mid Communications. You can also donate online at http://www.key103.co.uk/mission/.

About Cash for Kids: Key103’s Cash for Kids is a local charity that fundraises to help disadvantaged and disabled children across Greater Manchester. They stand up proud in our local community championing the children who need an extra helping hand, supporting children in our city that live in difficult circumstances and deal with issues such as poverty, abuse, neglect and short life expectancy. Every penny raised stays locally, addressing issues on our doorstep and responding to the needs of our communities. A special part of Cash for Kids is their grant funding rounds. They hold two grant funding rounds per year, offering the opportunity for smaller charities and individuals to apply for funding. From breakfast clubs, to swimming lessons for a blind child, they have grant funded over £2m back into the local community since 2001.

Unfortunately Manchester has the fourth highest child poverty levels in the UK and with the current economic crisis and cut backs in government funding never before have we seen so many projects supporting vulnerable children in financial crisis – they need our help more than ever before.
