"The Next Generation Calls" - The official song for the Children's Climate Conference 2015
The artist and singer, Mariette, has specially written the song "The Next Generation Calls" to be released today, 16th of November. The single is the official song for the Children's Climate Conference, which takes place in Södertälje 25 -28th of November. The sales proceeds will go to Musikhjälpen, which this year has the theme "No one should have to escape the climate".
On 30th of November, the world leaders will gather at COP21. Four days before, on November 26th, children from all over the world will have their own unique meeting in Södertälje, Sweden; the Children's Climate Conference (CCC15). The purpose of the meeting is to give the children a voice in the climate debate and put pressure on the world leaders to come to an agreement at COP21. Mariette wrote the song with this background and also has a strong personal commitment to the climate issue.
- I feel a great concern about the climate change, more people are forced to flee climate disasters if we do not act now. If I, through my song, can contribute to changing the world for the better, it is natural for me to do so. My hope is to give the children a strong voice that can reach the world leaders. It's actually the childrens future which is being decided on, says Mariette.
"The Next Generation Calls" is available on all platforms on the 20th of November. Until then, you can hear the song on YouTube. The song is a collaboration with songwriters Melanie Wehbe and Elias Näslin. The sales proceeds will go to Musikhjälpen 2015.
Mariette is best known for her participation in TV4's Idol 2009 and Melodifestivalen 2015. She has also toured with Ace Wilder and was guitarist at Magnus Uggla's show "Magnus the Great". During the summer of 2015, Mariette was the opening act for Roxette on their "XXX - The 30th Anniversary Tour". She also wrote and performed the official Pride song 2015.
