AutoCare tune to DAB opportunity

Audio specialists Celsus are already working through DAB enquiries gained at the AutoCare trade show. Organisers GROUPAUTO say visitor numbers swelled this year as Approved Garages flocked to Telford’s International Centre too.

The DABmotion stand pitched DAB retrofit as the ‘biggest new profit opportunity at the show’ backing the claim with facts on future DAB switch-over and  parc coverage - over 90% of the UK’s 35 million cars don’t yet have DAB fitted. Garages visiting the stand proved eager to catch up on developments and see the capabilities of the DABmotion DAB1001 retrofit solution.

“Every garage that stopped to talk about the opportunity left requesting more information”, said Paul Baker, Celsus Managing Director. “Fitting DAB isn’t day-to-day business for garages but you could see people realising both how big a market this really is and how well placed they are to offer professional DAB installation to their existing customers and local area.”        

Indeed, garages were soon nodding in agreement to a potential £20,000 per annum profit opportunity crystallised by completing just four DABmotion upgrades a week. They also commented on the ease of integrating DABmotion with the existing car audio head unit with most asking for details on the range of new DABmotion installer training from Celsus who are an IMI Awards Approved Assessment Centre.

One AutoCare garage was converted after acknowledging that DABmotion DAB1001 could be installed for the same fitted price as the retrofit AUX inputs they were already installing for customers. As DABmotion 1001 includes AUX input too, they said customers would effectively be getting in car DAB digital radio completely free.
