Celsus joins IAAF

Celsus, creators and distributors of the DABmotion brand of digital radio solutions, have joined the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF).

Celsus, whose business origins lie in developing a successful range of fitting accessories supplied to car audio specialists throughout the UK, are increasingly busy in the automotive aftermarket these days. This is in readiness of the future digital radio switchover process, which will be formally triggered once defined share of listening and transmission coverage criteria are met. Despite massive infrastructure investment and growing public uptake of digital radio services, the car conversion market still remains almost completely untapped at this stage.

“I met Wendy Williamson at a recent trade event,” said Paul Baker, Managing Director of Celsus. “It was clear right away that Wendy has really strong knowledge of the digital radio roll-out and commitment to ensuring the aftermarket responds quickly to maximise the profit opportunity.”

The DABmotion DAB1001 conversion kit is made up of a ‘black box’ interface, digital radio antenna and matchbox sized control. It receives DAB signal, with patented auto-retune capability for clarity on the move, transmitting back through the existing car audio head unit wirelessly so no replacement or complex installation is required.

Paul continued: “When we discovered more in a subsequent meeting about the work IAAF does, often behind the scenes, to support the commercial interests of the independent aftermarket, we immediately applied to join.”

Wendy Williamson, IAAF chief executive said: “During my time at the SMMT, where I co-ordinated the digital radio project on behalf of the automotive industry, I saw just how massive this opportunity is for the independent aftermarket.

“The IAAF has continued to represent the independent aftermarket’s interests in digital radio and we are delighted to have Celsus as a new supplier member.  Having been loaned a Celsus DABmotion DAB1001 conversion kit, I have seen first-hand the improved sound quality and breadth of stations available and look forward to Celsus playing a very active role in highlighting the opportunities that are available to the independent aftermarket.”

About DABmotion

DABmotion DAB1001 launched in July 2013 as a cost-effective universal DAB in-car retrofit solution. The kit comprised a glass mount antenna, matchbox-sized remote control and compact hideaway ‘black box’ interface. The system offered a reliable and affordable way to upgrade any car audio system to the wealth of digital radio choice without the need to replace the existing head unit.

Patented AFC auto-retune technology captures seamless digital radio without interference whilst on the move. DABmotion then effectively decodes digital radio and converts it into an FM signal that is transmitted wirelessly to the car’s original radio, even displaying track / station / artist information on the display. It can be professionally installed in under an hour.

DABmotion offers recognised training too under IMI Awards for automotive or audio technicians looking to capitalise on growing consumer demand for car DAB radio conversions ahead of a future UK digital radio switchover. Training can be completed on site, in as little as half day, backed by the promise that anyone completing it will be able to confidently install working DAB radio into any car.

DABmotion ROLA was launch in September 2014 to bring a number of improvements to the award-winning DABmotion 1001 kit. DABmotion ROLA is fully ‘Tick Mark’ approved under the government scheme designed to help the UK public locate best quality products and services.
