Employees from Ceridian, one of the UK’s leading HCM technology and service providers, have so far raised over £50,000 this year for the Payback Foundation – a new record! Major events in which they have participated include Tough Mudder in April, the Three Peaks Challenge in June and the Summit to Sonas in August.

Doug Sawers, managing director at Ceridian UK, said: “We are gratified by the amount raised so far by amazing Ceridian colleagues and friends taking part in some outlandish and testing challenges. Raising a record £50,000 amount for PayBack was our original target for the year and this has already been exceeded with more than three months to go. Our thanks go to all of who have taken the time to sponsor and support the various challenges.

“Payback Foundation is our own charity, helping disabled and disadvantaged children who live or attend school in the vicinity of one of our five offices in the UK and Ireland. It aims to support named individuals with physical, emotional or learning difficulties as part of an ongoing and long-term relationship and so far Payback has funded over 450 deserving youngsters through grants exceeding £400,000. PayBack is close to all our hearts and, thanks to the efforts of colleagues and their supporters, is making a real difference to children’s lives.”

The Payback Foundation was established in 1997. PayBack supports grant applications for named children, aged 17 or under at the time of application, who have physical, emotional or learning difficulties and live within a 10-mile radius of a Ceridian UK office. PayBack also supports grants for organisations who work with children who fit the above criteria.

2014 PayBack Fund-Raising Highlights:

Tough Mudder

A team of 20 Ceridian employees plus three external team members raised over £25,000 in aid of the Payback Foundation after completing the arduous challenge of Tough Mudder held in Henley-on-Thames on April 26. Tough Mudder is a 12-mile military-style untimed obstacle race, held in muddy conditions with over 2,500 feet of climbs, designed by British Special Forces to “challenge the toughest of the tough”.

The Three Peaks Challenge

Nine Ceridian employees from the Leeds office and three friends climbed three big hills on June 28, covering over 24 miles in under 12 hours. In so doing, they raised over £1,600 for PayBack.

Summit to Sonas

This challenge on August 8 involved 22 Ceridian employees tackling a 3,196-foot climb over Ben Lomond, a seven-mile open Canadian canoe across Loch Lomond and a 30-mile bike ride back to the flagship Ceridian Sonas HR Shared Serviced Centre near Glasgow. Sonas, in Gaelic, means good fortune, prosperity, passion, success, enjoyment and happiness, encapsulating the spirit of the participating Ceridian colleagues. They raised over £6,000 for Payback.
