Clavister joins NEC SDN Partner Space and collaborates to accelerate and secure SDN and NFV migrations for service providers and mobile network operators

Clavister (Nasdaq: CLAV), a leader in high-performance network security, has joined the NEC SDN Partner Space ecosystem and is collaborating with NEC and Netcracker, providers of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) solutions, business support, and operations support systems.  The collaboration will enable solutions that accelerate and secure deployments of SDN and NFV infrastructures for service providers and mobile network operators (MNOs).

The collaboration will incorporate NEC and Netcracker’s management capabilities with Clavister’s virtualized security software, delivering a fully integrated, secure platform for SDN and NFV deployments. This will accelerate delivery of the flexible, scalable network functions that are critical for the development of next-generation data centers, mobile networks, cloud services and smart cities.

SDN and NFV technologies enable network operators to move from inflexible, expensive hardware-based architectures to faster, more scalable virtualized networks.  This reduces capital and operating costs, while supporting the increasing demands for mobility and cloud services, and the growth in complex network traffic.  The SDN and NFV market is forecast to grow from $2 billion in 2015 to $45 billion in 2020, a compound annual growth of 86.1%*.

Jim Carlsson, CEO of Clavister, commented: “By collaborating with NEC and Netcracker, we will be strongly positioned to capitalize on the shift to SDN and NFV technologies within carriers, MNOs, service providers and enterprises.  NEC has a significant market presence which will create a range of new market opportunities for Clavister, in helping protect the networks of leading enterprises and carriers globally as they virtualize their networks.  Working with NEC and Netcracker, we will develop solutions that accelerate and simplify deploying and managing secure, SDN and NFV-based infrastructures.”

Timur Aliev, Head of Product Strategy and Innovation at NEC, commented: “With Clavister joining the NEC SDN Partner Space ecosystem, in collaboration with NEC and Netcracker, enables us to further strengthen the security that is required in virtualized networks environments. Jointly, with over 40 market leaders, we will be able to provide new services for SDN and NFV environments, without compromising any element of network function.”

Rahul Chandra, Vice President Worldwide Business Development (SDN/NFV) at NetCracker, added: “As cyber-attacks become increasingly high-profile, dynamically orchestrated security solutions are a major focus of our customers in the telco space. Working jointly with Clavister will allow us to develop a solution that addresses this area while accelerating the deployment process of SDN and NFV networks. This will enable NEC and Netcracker to deliver end to end solutions as service providers and MNOs increasingly seek the benefits offered by virtualized networks.”

Netcracker conducted extensive evaluations of security solutions for virtualized environments from several vendors in 2015.  It found Clavister’s solutions delivered richer features and better functionality, which led to the collaboration between the companies.

NEC and Netcracker’s service suite includes end-to-end service and network orchestration, an SDN Controller, and a range of virtual network functions (VNFs), such as virtualized customer premises equipment (vCPE), virtualized evolved packet core (vEPC), and other value-added VNFs and management offerings.  Clavister’s virtualized next generation firewalls deliver advanced protection to virtualized and software-based networks with features including IPS, IDS, application control, content filtering, antivirus and VPN.

Becoming part of NEC SDN Partner Space ecosystem enables Clavister, NEC and Netcracker to work together on joint research and development projects that will create further technical and business synergies, as SDN and NFV migrations continue to increase.
