LOS ANGELES, CA (February 27, 2018) -- Can love and understanding endure decades of deceit among three generations of women? Can a new perspective heal both old wounds and new? These are some of the themes explored in the award-winning independent feature film “Snapshots”, which is premiering at the Cinequest Film Festival beginning March 3 in San Jose, CA, followed by a roster of film festival premieres this spring.

Snapshots tracks the lives of three generations of women during an annual weekend visit to grandmother Rose’s lake house. Rose’s secret past is exposed when daughter Patty and granddaughter Allison’s angry and explosive relationship issues unravel. Spurred by the discovery of Rose’s old Brownie camera and the recently developed secrets held inside, the audience travels into Rose’s deceitful yet love-filled past, the painful choices she made, and the lessons learned that she must pass on to a new generation.

Based on a true story, Snapshots features veteran actors who have journeyed through Oscar nominated performances, Emmy award-winning television shows, and historically significant films. Piper Laurie (grandmother “Rose”) has enjoyed an incredible career with major roles in such hit movies as The Hustler with Paul Newman, Carrie with Sissy Spacek, and Children of a Lesser God with William Hurt and Marlee Matlin - with all three performances garnering her Oscar nominations. Ms. Laurie’s career is lauded with many successful television series roles as well, including a Golden Globe award for Twin Peaks, an Emmy for Promise, and Emmy nominations for Frasier, St. Elsewhere, and The Thorn Birds.

Brooke Adams (daughter “Patty”) has also starred in many groundbreaking feature films and television series, including Days of Heaven with Richard Gere, Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Donald Sutherland, and The Dead Zone with Christopher Walken, as well as roles in the popular TV series Moonlighting, Thirtysomething, Frasier, Monk, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and Wings.

Rounding out the cast are some highly talented players, including Emily Baldoni (granddaughter “Allison”), Emily Goss, Shannon Collis, Brett Dier, Max Adler, and Christopher McVay.

Written by seasoned writer/producer Jan Miller Corran and directed by acclaimed actor/director Melanie Mayron, Snapshots is a poignant film based on Corran’s personal story that combines the past pain with a present wisdom filled with with love, anger, truth, and understanding. Corran, a successful film producer, playwright and author, has executive produced such feature films as  I’ll See You in My Dreams and AWOL, and produced documentaries such as Alfredo’s Fire, Out and Around, and shorts, including Times Like These, and Whittier Boulevard. Snapshots is her first script. Director Mayron is well versed as an actor, director, producer, and writer. Awarded an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in Thirtysomething, she has received a total of three Emmy nominations, as well as nominations and awards from BAFTA, Director’s Guild, The Locarno Film Festival, Viewers for Quality Television, and the Women’s Image Network Awards. Her most recent directorial credits include Jane the Virgin, SEAL Team, GLOW and Famous In Love.

Snapshots has debuted to critical acclaim at the Santa Fe Film Festival, Bloomington Pride Film Festival, Rosebud Film Festival, the Sedona International Film Festival, and the Desperado LGBT Film Festival, where it won an Audience Award. It soon will be appearing at London’s BFI: Flare, The Women's Film Festival in Philadelphia, and the Qfest in St. Louis, among several others.

Snapshots premieres at the Cinequest Film Festival starting Saturday, March 3rd at 4:15 PM at The Hammer Theater in San Jose, with additional screenings on Sunday, March 4th at 4:45 PM at The California Theater in San Jose, and on Saturday, March 10th at 4:45 PM at The Century 20 in Redwood City.
