Oslo, Norway – 23 August 2018 – Cxense ASA (OSE: CXENSE) today announced that one of Japan’s largest publishers The Mainichi Newspapers Co., Ltd (Mainichi) has signed an agreement to implement Conversion Engine, Cxense’s new machine learning-powered solution for dynamic paywalls and personalized customer journeys later this year. In addition Mainichi extends its use of Cxense's Data Management Platform (DMP) with Intelligent Personalization in order to increase advertising revenues.

Founded in 1872, Mainichi operates local and national newspapers, as well as magazines, and several other online and mobile sites.

Mainichi has been using Cxense DMP with Intelligent Personalization since 2016 to drive user engagement, conversion rates and advertising revenues. The publisher will now deploy the newest version of the Cxense DMP. The upgrade includes ready-to-use socio-demographic segments and real-time audience campaign reporting to track ad engagement. With the improved solution, Cxense will support Mainichi in creating premium advertising products and highly attractive audience segments.

Later this year, Mainichi will implement Conversion Engine to grow subscription revenues by creating personalized customer journeys and enabling dynamic paywalls on several of their most popular news sites.

“We are excited to be the first publisher in Japan to implement both the upgraded Cxense DMP and Conversion Engine,” says Takeo Iwasawa, Executive Officer, Digital Media Division, Mainichi. “Digital subscriptions will become more and more important for Mainichi and the dynamic paywall and personalization technology delivered by Cxense will play a significant role in our strategy”, summarizes Iwasawa.

“Our new solutions will allow Mainichi to substantially drive advertising and subscription revenues,” says Christian Printzell Halvorsen, Cxense CEO. “During a recent test, Mainichi and Cxense were able to generate a 21 percent boost in conversions. This proves that Conversion Engine can significantly strengthen a publisher’s subscriber and revenue base,” adds Halvorsen.
