Anges de Sucre Offers Hollywood Homage with Stunning Triple-Layer Alice in Wonderland Cake
To celebrate the launch of the latest Alice in Wonderland movie, ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ , Anges de Sucre, has crafted a breath-taking tribute cake that looks as though it tumbled from the imagination of Lewis Carroll himself.
The wonderfully whimsical cake features a magnificent triple-layer rich Red Velvet sponge cake, iced with blue and white striped cream cheese buttercream just like Alice’s famous dress. Belgian white chocolate go into creating magic mushrooms and fairy tale toadstools, while salted caramel tea spills decadently from the Mad Hatter’s chocolate teacups.
White chocolate playing cards pay homage to the Queen of Hearts, with red and white buttercream roses and colourful macarons to top it off. The entire, mouth-watering treat is finished with Anges de Sucre’s signature Belgian chocolate ganache drip glaze, tumbling down the sides of the cake like Alice down the rabbit hole.
Reshmi Bennett of Anges de Sucre says, “Alice in Wonderland was one of my favourite stories as a child – I love the way the story combines childish curiosity and innocent adventures with a fiendishly dark edge. I’ve wanted to create this cake for a while, and with the release of ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’, I thought now was the perfect time!”
Reshmi adds, “The finished cake is the result of many hours spent dreaming and tweaking, and we think the final result is just sublime. Many of the Wonderland-themed cakes out there have a novelty element, with fondant decorations and an over-reliance on sugarpaste – but we feel we’ve elevated Alice’s world, using the finest ingredients to pay tribute to the weird and wonderful characters of the story, as well as Alice herself.”
Anges de Sucre’s delicious take on Wonderland is available for direct delivery throughout London and the UK, with two working days’ notice needed to produce the magnificent triple-layer cake. They are also available to order from Selfridges Oxford Street where statuesque models of the cake can be viewed in their elaborate displays. The cake can be personalised for a special occasion, with the cake able to display messages of up to twenty characters – ideal for birthdays, weddings and other one-off events.
