Cannes Fashion Festival Announces New Dates for 2016 Event

After roaring success on the runway the Cannes Fashion Festival has announced the gala will go ahead again in 2016. From May 18 to 20 the iconic seaside city will once again light up with the divine creations of fashion deities from across the globe.

Ms Rose Marie Perez, Managing Director of Cannes Fashion Festival said, “We were always confident that the Cannes Fashion Festival would be a sensation yet as with any inaugural event, this also went hand in hand with the apprehension of the unknown. We were emphatically blown away by the success of 2015’s debut edition and from day one we already had our sights set on planning next year’s extravaganza. We’ve now got a solid foundation to work with and in 2016 showcased designers and attendees can expect to see an augmented version of its predecessor.”

The inaugural event took place from May 20 to 22, dates that coincided with the legendary Cannes Film Festival. The French Riviera festival was hailed as one of the biggest fashion events of the year and attracted a dazzling guest list of A-list designers, emerging artisans and celebrity attendees. As well as showcasing creations at high energy runway shows the festival also featured an exciting calendar of galas, auctions, exhibitions and more.

Landmark luxury establishment Hotel Majestic Barriere will once again host the event, perfectly located on the prestigious Boulevard de la Croisette. 2016 may only be the festival’s second year but already organisers have plans to expand the extravaganza. The event will now feature three salons, as opposed to the duo seen at this year’s event.  As well as salons hosting the main runway and backstage preparation area, organisers will also be adding a third for showrooms and exhibitions.

Once again the 2016 Cannes Fashion Festival will shine the spotlight on dynamism and diversity. Organisers have confirmed that the event will welcome designers of both haute couture and ready to wear apparel, as well as casual, bridal, lingerie, sportswear, jewellery, swimwear and accessories labels. Designer applications are now open.

On-hand to cover this year’s event were journalists hailing from 42 media outlets across 11 countries. Not to mention 27 fashion bloggers creating a global buzz on the red carpet. Next year is expected to generate event more international attention as the Cannes Fashion Festival fortifies its status as one of the fashion industry’s biggest happenings.

In the wake of a wildly successful debut Cannes Fashion Festival organisers are extending a monumental ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped make the event a success.

Rose Marie Perez says, “From an outsider’s point of view the event was pulled off flawlessly but behind the scenes an arm of individuals worked around the clock to put together a milestone event. We’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to all participating designers, catwalk director, hosts-presenters, model agencies and their models, hair stylists, make-up artists, official bloggers and media partners. And of course, the entire team that made the first edition of the Cannes Fashion Festival 2015 a success.”
