Cardiff Announced As New Destination for Theatre Breaks in Anniversary Year
Theatre Breaks has announced its new range of UK short breaks for 2015 offering ticket and hotel packages for the musicals on show at the Wales Millennium Centre Theatre in Cardiff including Dirty Dancing, Jersey Boys, The Bodyguard and, the 2015/2016 Christmas show, Shrek – The Musical.
Cardiff is becoming an increasingly popular destination for short breaks and the eye-catching line-up at the Donald Gordon Theatre this year will make Cardiff one of the go-to destinations for theatre in the UK.
Season highlight, Jersey Boys, which tells the rags-to-riches story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, was voted as one of the nation's most aspirational shows this year and is bound to be one of the most popular tickets on offer this year.
“We have always promoted traditionally theatrical cities such as London, Edinburgh and, of course, Stratford-Upon-Avon, but the wide range of musicals and family shows on offer made Cardiff an obvious city to add to our list to celebrate this, our 35th anniversary year” Says Simon Harding of Theatre Breaks
“To be honest we are barely scratching the surface but maybe next year we can include more productions, including the wonderful Welsh National Opera – this year we are just happy to be involved!”
Theatre Breaks to Cardiff will include a guest's choice of ticket for a show on at the WMC and overnight accommodation. Hotels on their inventory range from the 3 star Airport Holiday Inn Express to the five star St David's Hotel and Spa overlooking Cardiff Bay. To this basic package visitors can add discounted rail travel from their local railway station and local attractions including Cardiff Castle and the Cardiff Sightseeing Bus Tour.
Theatre Breaks is run by family-owned travel company St Albans Travel Service. Started by Stuart Harding in 1980, under his son, Simon Harding, it is celebrating its 35th year in 2015.
