EFCI Report Cleaning Sector Growth – IQTimecard Examine the Consequences for Businesses

A brand new report from the EFCI (European Federation of Cleaning Industries) has revealed some significant statistics from the world of contract cleaning – and the time and attendance experts at IQTimecard are on hand to analyse what they mean for the sector.

According to the report, which was released on 6th May 2015 and covers the years up to 2012, total employee turnover in the industry increased by 4.83% - something that employees will surely want to address over the coming years. Other stats showed that, over the last 22 years, the annual employment growth for the industry has increased by 4.35%, demonstrating that high employee turnover is no barrier to growth in the cleaning sector.

Part-time work also remains prevalent in contract cleaning – 67% of those working within the industry in the EU are only employed on part-time contracts.

IQTimecard is a workforce management tool which is used commonly in contract cleaning to help employees keep track of their workers’ hours and movements. The solution has proven invaluable for many contract cleaning businesses, tackling many of the relevant issues that the industry presents.

David Lynes, Director of IQTimecard, says, “IQTimecard is a prevalent tool in the contract cleaning industry, and for good reason. It’s great for keeping track of the hours that part-time workers put in – and with almost 7 in 10 cleaners on part-time contracts, the scheduling tools that IQTimecard offers are vital for keeping things running smoothly.”

He adds, “Employee turnover has always been a problem in contract cleaning, and many people cite low pay as their reasons for leaving the sector. IQTimecard can certainly help with matters of pay – it syncs perfectly with payroll software to ensure that businesses are fully in control.”

Other statistics found in the report show that cleaning services across the EU are largely carried out early in the morning (24%) or in the early evening (38%). IQTimecard has been proven to help safeguard lone workers while they carry out these unsociable shifts – it allows managers to see whether their staff have arrived and departed any client location safely and promptly, so that they can raise alarms and coordinate support if there is a problem. The solution gives supervisors a real-time look at where their employees are, rather than using paper timesheets which offer no insight into the movements of workers.

Lastly, IQTimecard is the perfect solution for cleaning businesses with big ambitions. The EFCI report showed that 76.4% cleaning businesses in the EU employ fewer than ten people – IQTimecard is an ideal choice for small businesses that don’t want a huge outlay, but the solution is also scalable, which means it can handle hundreds of employees should a business go through a phase of growth.
