Lauded Michelin-starred Kyoto chef Yoshihiro Murata’s Tokimeitē Announces Exclusive Sake Master Class
Tokimeitē, the contemporary Japanese dining destination in the heart of Mayfair, will take on the complex, sophisticated flavours of sake on 10 November 2016 as its own expert sommelier and premium Japanese brewery, Tosatsuru pair up to host an exclusive evening dedicated to the delicious complexities of sake.
Set to the unique aesthetic of world-renowned Michelin-starred Kyoto chef, Yoshihiro Murata and acclaimed designer Yasumichi Morita’s Tokimeitē, the evening will fuse a truly authentic taste of Japan with a unique selection of beautiful sake wines, imported directly from their homeland. Making the event one not to be missed, the Tosatsuru brewery owner will travel from Japan specifically to share his knowledge and appreciation of sake along with select examples of his wines.
The evening, which is a first for the restaurant, continues Chef Murata’s vision of seducing British taste buds with a clearer understanding of traditional Japanese cuisine. His stylish, contemporary twist on traditional wa-shoku dishes makes the perfect backdrop to a gastronomic journey of discovery deep into the origins of premium sake.
Diners at the one-night-only master class will enjoy a tasting menu prepared by Executive Head Chef, Hayashi. Each course has been carefully designed to pair perfectly with a selection of sharp and mineral sakes. Dishes include squid and wasabi stem arranged in wasabi sauce, slow-cooked scallop and apple with black truffles, premium sashimi wagyu beef grilled on magnolia leaf with gingko nuts flavoured in hoba-miso.
Accompanying this curated menu of signature Tokimeitē dishes will be a hand-picked selection of sake’s served both hot and cold. Awash with intricate notes, flavour variations, groups and vintages, Tokimeitē’s sake master class is an exclusive experience for diners keen to better understand the subtle etiquette and complex flavours of Japan’s national drink.
Richard Jayakody, Restaurant Operation Manager said, “Sake is integral to Japanese culture, shrouded in tradition, with hundreds of varietals and incredibly satisfying interplays of flavour. Our sake master class promises to deliver an exclusive, unforgettable experience to guests, transporting diners from the refined elegance of Mayfair to the vibrant surroundings of a truly authentic izakaya. We’re delighted to have Tosatsuru Brewery sakes as the centrepiece of this master class and look forward to introducing guests to some of the most impressive sakes being produced anywhere in Japan today.”
Guests will be given the chance to earn a sake certificate under the expert eye of Yukiko Hiromatsu. Reservations are priced at £120 per person.
