Mansfield CCTV Installers Receive Government Health and Safety Scheme Approval
A Mansfield business CCTV installer and intruder alarm firm Mint Security Systems has received an important health and safety approval from a government scheme. The Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS) approval means Mint Security has demonstrated excellent health and safety awareness and is pre-approved to work for a select group of some 500 public and private sector organisations.
The health and safety compliance nod is a huge coup for the family run business, which operates throughout Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. By participating in the CHAS scheme, Mint Security can demonstrate to buyers its compliance with core health and safety requirements and legislation, as set out in the CDM regulations. This removes the problem of individual health and safety compliance testing on a job by job basis for larger organisations, where inconsistencies can mean that that suppliers are judged competent by one buyer but held to a different standard by another client.
To earn its CHAS approval, the Mint Security Systems team underwent extensive assessment by the government organisation. This included the submission of health and safety policy statements, assessment of health and safety organisation, processes and procedures and a demonstration of health and safety arrangements to a standard deemed acceptable by CHAS for its members and other buyers.
“We are of course delighted to be CHAS approved,” said managing director Chris Watson. “This is a prestigious accolade and one which shows how serious we are about the health and safety of our staff and customers when on site. We hope this will help us to tap into more public and private sector work via the CHAS buyer database.”
Established in 1997 by procurement professionals and procurement professionals the Association of London Government (ALG) CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers. It aims to improve health and safety standards in Great Britain and reduce duplicated safety applications.
