Mansfield PR Agency Cements Expansion with First Appointment From Local University Graduate Recruitment Scheme

Dakota Digital, the Mansfield-based boutique PR and digital marketing agency, has cemented its expansion plans with the appointment of a new junior account manager, recruited exclusively from a local university. 

The role was created specifically as an entry level position at the agency's Mansfield iCentre office and has been filled by Sheffield University alum, Joshua Barlow, who graduates this year from the School of Journalism. Barlow was one of dozens of applicants from Sheffield University for the role, which was advertised exclusively on Sheffield and Nottingham Trent University graduate job boards.

The new recruit is the first intake from Dakota's local graduate recruitment programme - an initiative that will see the agency creating further employment opportunities for upcoming and recent graduates in the surrounding area.

Barlow will join a growing team at Dakota Digital, which has staff in Mansfield, Manchester and the USA. He will assist senior account managers creating content such as press releases and blog posts, and contributing to PR and social media strategy sessions.

As a journalism graduate, Barlow comes to the role with ample experience under his belt. During his time at university, he edited multiple blogs and wrote for many publications including The Huffington Post UK Blogs and The Yorkshire Times. He has also appeared on BBC Radio Sheffield. In his spare time Josh writes about mental health and public affairs issues on his blog.

We are a busy agency and have expanded our client roster quite significantly this year with the addition of several brand name campaigns so this is an exciting time for us. When we decided to create the new post it was logical to go to local universities- we're passionate about creating new opportunities and look forward to helping Josh find his feet with on the job training and agency mentoring from more experienced members of staff."

Barlow said, "I was delighted to be offered the job after two interviews and two trial days - it was a tough recruitment process and i was up against a lot of other students. I've just started   and am really enjoying being part of a busy agency with such a diversity of clients and responsibilities."
