Shop, Raise, Donate As New Social Shopping Platform iStreet Launches
Social tech start-up iStreet takes the high street digital and makes a donation to charity with every purchase. Brand name retailers including John Lewis and Sainsburys are already on board.
A brand new platform has launched which helps savvy shoppers to help a good cause simply by buying online from their favourite retailers. With thousands of brand names and high street stalwarts including John Lewis and Sainsburys, as well as the online high street leaders including Play.com and thousands more, iStreet takes the high street interactive.
Founded by recent university graduates and budding entrepreneurs Hugo Catchpole and Hamish Stone, the socially responsible shopping platform is packed with all of the fun, convenience and economic benefits of buying online with the added benefit of helping a good cause. Shoppers simply log in, browse their favourite stores, retailers and offers and add to cart as normal.
A part of every spend is donated to charities including Age UK, Whizz Kidz, The Eve Appeal and Help for Heroes meaning everyone can contribute just by doing the weekly shop.
Co-founder Hugo Catchpole said, “As young entrepreneurs, Hamish and I wanted to do something that would make a difference. We were passionate about coupling a technology platform with a concept that would help others. We wanted it to be fun, useful and free, something that could slot seamlessly into daily lives of millions of internet users and empower them to help their favourite charities without requiring them to change up their routine.
“We decided that there must be an easy way for a weekly shop and regular purchases to make a difference to the thousands of charities in need of donations and from there, iStreet was born. Interactive, fresh, modern and above all fun, the response we have had from online shoppers, retailers and charities has been phenomenal. We have thousands of well known brands on board and lots of charities – while we have only just launched this is an area we are keen to build on. To that end, we have made it easy and free of charge for charities to register with us and while we are already working with organisations such as Age UK and The Eve Appeal, are actively inviting other charities and not for profits to come on board.

iStreet shoppers can get started for free on the website and keep track of the amount raised for their chosen causes socially via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. The iSteet app can also be installed on a desktop or laptop, so users never miss the chance to make a donation when buying online.
Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children with mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and is one of the charities already signed up with the social tech startup. Jessica Hiscocks, the Eastern Regional Fundraising Manager for Whizz-Kidz said, “Whizz-Kidz is delighted to benefit from iStreet. It’s a great way to shop and raise money at the same time! We have already received donations through the site which will add up and go a long way in supporting disabled children and young people. We would love people to consider iStreet and Whizz-Kidz when shopping online!”
