Take on the challenge of a lifetime – win two places on the Nepal International Marathon!
Jogging in the shadow of the stunning Himalayan mountain range may seem like an unachievable dream to many, however a new initiative from Impact Marathon Series will make that dream a reality for two lucky people by giving them two spots on the inaugural Nepal Impact Marathon in November.
This is the ultimate way to end the marathon season. With sweeping Himalayan views, ice-cold stream crossings and dense woodland trails, this course is enough to give any long-distance runner that buzz they’ll be chasing for the rest of their life. If the full 42km challenge is a step too far, there are 10km and 21km options also. Either way, this is sure to be the height of any runner’s career.
Participants will also be fully-immersed in different cultures as they live for seven days in a specially designed Athlete’s Village set in the stunning backdrop of the Himalayas. This is quite possibly the most beautiful campsite in the world, where the campfire will serve as a melting pot of stories and connections for the hundreds of runners who will be flying in from across the globe. The lucky winners will not only join hundreds of other international and local runners on the challenging and dramatic course, but will also get to experience this incredible part of south Asia in all its untouched beauty on this inspiring 7-day adventure.
In addition, the initiative will support the United Nation’s Global Goals to end poverty, combat climate change and fight injustice and inequality. Impact Marathon Series, the organisers of the Nepal marathon, have a partnership with Global Citizen, and organise marathons right around the world, with each one supporting one of the 17 Global Goals set out by the UN.
Supporting post-disaster development in the area by raising money and showcasing the good work that can be done, the Nepal marathon will take place Between 21 and 27 November 2016.
Nick Kershaw, Impact Marathon Series Founder, said, “The goals set out by the UN positively impact every single person in the world. We want to shout about what happens 18 months after a natural disaster, an often overlooked period, yet massively important. By getting runners to come, give back and then run together with those who’s lives are being impacted by our work – it’s a celebration of humanity, in the form of a slightly outrageous running event!”
The Global Goals were set out to achieve three extraordinary things by 2030 – end poverty, combat climate change and fight injustice and inequality. Impact Marathon Series are also hosting the Colombia International Marathon, the Malawi International Marathon and the Guatemala International Marathon for post conflict, international development and climate change and conservation respectively, in 2017.
