The Little Welly ‘Goes Wild’ Hits Henley-On-Thames For Second Year of Fun, Action and Mud
Bigger, better and muddier than ever before The Little Welly ‘Goes Wild’ is set to return to Henley-On-Thames this July 11- 12. With higher obstacles, longer courses and a whole lot of fun, kids will have a ball as they run, jump, climb, swing and crawl their way through the wildly popular outdoor adventure series.
In the wake of last year’s sell-out success, organisers have confirmed that The Little Welly ‘Goes Wild’ is back for a second stint of squelchy summer fun. The move to Henley-on-Thames will see the event held at Oxfordshire’s Culden Faw Estate. It’s set to be an action packed day full of fun, laughter and of course, bucket loads of mud.
Despite the fact that the UK boasts a plethora of beautiful outdoor landscapes, the latest research from English adventurer Ben Fogle revealed that 25% of British kids spend less than 30 minutes a week playing outside. These are alarming figures and indicate the immediate need for parents to encourage their kids to get outdoors, enjoy nature and rekindle their sense of adventure.
Rachel, founder and organiser of The Little Welly ‘Goes Wild’ says, “My siblings and I were raised to love, appreciate and explore the great outdoors and I’m passionate about instilling these values in the next generation. I worry that a sense of fun, freedom and wildness is lost on some of today’s contemporary kids and through The Little Welly ‘Goes Wild’ I hope to introduce all youngsters to the allure of Mother Nature.”
For little ones who love to get their hands dirty the not to be missed 3km obstacle course takes mini-adventurers through streams, woodland and plenty of muck. Kids will take on 25 individual challenges that unfold in the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside. The one of a kind experience has been specially designed for children aged four and over, however parents and carers are also welcome to join in the fun. After scaling the towering heights of The Wall, conquering the looming Tyre Mountain, splish, splash, sploshing through the Stream Run and bouncing around in the Foam Pit, kids can then collect their shiny finisher’s medal and get their fingers sticky with a well-deserved ice cream.
As well as the action packed obstacle course the grounds of Culden Faw Estate will be brimming with outdoor play experiences and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Challenge the brood to a game of laser tag, learn new bush craft skills, ride a pony, Zen out in a yoga class and get creative at arts and crafts stalls.
Adding to the excitement will be a string of energetic organisations that are passionate about kids, education and the great outdoors. Go Kids and Soccer First will be on-hand to highlight the importance of staying active while the Woodland Trust, WildLife Trust and RSPB will be dishing out inspiration and ideas on how to enjoy and preserve the natural environment.
From pre-schoolers to pre-teens, The Little Welly ‘Goes Wild’ is guaranteed to be the most fun the family has all summer. Entry to the event is completely free but obstacle course tickets cost £13 for children and adult’s tickets cost £2.50.
