Time Out reveals plans to set up Shoreditch market in 2017.
FreeOfficeFinder.com has today reported that the London-based company is expanding beyond its traditional publishing business and preparing to set up shop in Commercial Street in the latter half of next year. It has earmarked a space of more than 19,000 square feet which it will fill with retail outlets, bars and restaurants. An art gallery and a cookery school are expected to complement the set-up.
The move follows the success of a similar venture in Portugal. Time Out opened its first market in Lisbon two years ago. Since then, the enterprise has gone from strength to strength. In the first six months of 2016 alone, the Lisbon market welcomed 1.3 million visitors with more than 100 per cent revenue growth.
The London market is intended to become Time Out's flagship. In tandem with the publisher's philosophy to promote the very best a destination can offer, the aim is for it to inspire visitors to try new experiences, uncover new art and entertainment and get a real taste of the vibrancy of the capital city.
Time Out reports that it has also signed a lease to open a market in Porto, Portugal's second city. Markets in New York and Miami are on the cards, too as the company targets America as part of its ongoing growth strategy.
