VӦOST highlight need for balanced intake of vitamins this Know Your Numbers Week
Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet high in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients is imperative. They help keep our bodies functioning to their maximum potential in these increasingly busy times. Yet it’s well documented that 70% of the British public aren’t eating the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables needed to maintain the required levels of vitamins and nutrients for healthy bodily function .
VÖOST, the effervescent vitamins hitting UK shores from down under, is highlighting the need for Brits to take vitamin intake seriously during Blood Pressure UK’s Know Your Numbers Week.
Thomas Siebel, Managing Director at VÖOST, said, “High blood pressure is worryingly common in our modern society. Linked to a range of health issues, it can cause people to be incredibly ill and have time off work as a result.”
A healthy, balanced diet and regular exercise are key to reducing the risk of high blood pressure, and ensuring adequate vitamin and mineral intake is essential to overall health and wellbeing. Reducing consumption of alcohol, ensuring the body gets sufficient potassium and maintaining a healthy weight all helps to maintain normal blood pressure, while Vitamin C helps to support normal collagen formation for the healthy function of blood vessels.
Know Your Numbers Week will take place between Monday 12thand Sunday 18th September, and is designed to highlight the importance of regular blood pressure checks – especially as people get older – as the chances of people developing high blood pressure increases as people age .
Known risk factors for hypertension (high blood pressure) include genetics, a lack of exercise, a diet high in salt, regularly drinking large amounts of alcohol, smoking and long-term sleep deprivation. Chronic kidney disease and stress may also increase the risk of developing high blood pressure , .
“It’s suggested that one third of people living with high blood pressure do not know they have it ,” continued Thomas. “This is extremely dangerous as without proper medical intervention, it can have disastrous consequences. The importance of checking your blood pressure regularly really cannot be underestimated – neither can ensuring you exercise regularly and eat a healthy, balanced diet which also includes getting the right amount of vitamins and minerals.”
The great-tasting VÖOST range was designed by a specialist naturopath and contains no added dairy, lactose or yeast. The range contains a multivitamin designed to meet everyone’s needs day-to-day, Vitamin C, plays a role in collagen production, as well as Vitamin B – which contains 3.5 mg of Vitamin B2 and contributes to the maintenance of normal red blood cells.
