Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, today announced that their financial instant issuance solutions were used to help issue prepaid cards to those affected by the massive flooding in Canada.

Severe flooding had forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes throughout southern Alberta— including the City of Calgary, Town of High River and several others.  The Alberta Government set up a flood assistance program that included issuing prepaid cards to affected Albertans.  Those who qualified were able to receive $1,250 per adult and $500 per child.

Datacard Group worked closely with Alberta to help the government very quickly issue prepaid cards to  thousands of affected residents.  The company sent an expert member of its financial instant issuance team to Calgary to help with service and support of issuing the cards; along with Datacard® CardWizard® issuance software securely loaded and configured onto laptops; and Datacard® CD820™ instant issuance systems that facilitated the printing, card personalization and issuance.  Datacard Group also brought one of its  Canadian card program partners as part of the response to provide payment card activation and funds loading services.

“Our thoughts go out to all those that were affected by the massive flooding in southern Alberta,” said Mike Vaselenak, financial instant issuance manager, Canada, for Datacard Group.  “It’s very important that the citizens got the help they needed right away, and as a native Calgarian, I am very proud that Datacard Group could respond so quickly and assist Alberta to provide the resources needed to help their citizens.”
