Tour operator DialAFlight is offering the chance to be one of the first to stay at the brand new Gaya Island Resort, due to open in Borneo on 1 July 2012. This five-star resort offers the perfect base to explore Borneo’s idyllic golden sand beaches, diving sites of spectacular underwater havens and untouched tropical rainforests, which are home to many rare species, including the orangutan, the proboscis monkey and the pygmy elephant.

Gaya Island Resort is located just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu on the shores of Pulau Gaya, the largest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. Comprising 121 spacious hill and sea-front villas with spectacular views of the majestic Mount Kinabalu, this sensitively designed resort offers a vast array of activities to satisfy each adventure, nature and water enthusiast while experiencing Sabah's colourful culture.

Activities include snorkelling with a marine biologist, taking a jungle safari with the resident naturalist, canoeing, paddle surfing and scuba diving. While creative guests can immerse themselves with weaving, beading and cooking classes as well as Rungus Tribe storytelling. For those who prefer a more indulgent holistic experience, the Spa Village offers treatments, therapies, yoga and healing practices specific to Borneo culture all set within a mangrove.

DialAFlight (www.dialaflight.com / 0844 556 6060) is offering seven nights for the price of six at the Gaya Island Resort from £1,299 per person (saving £70). Book by 12 June and valid for departures between 1 September and 11 December, the price includes accommodation in a Bayu Villa on a bed and breakfast basis, transfers and flights to Borneo from London with Malaysia Airlines.
