Digia to unveil future Qt strategy

October 10, 2012 — Three of the leading players in the Qt ecosystem – Digia, ICS and KDAB – are joining forces to host Qt Developer Days 2012, the premier annual Qt events in the US and Europe. To be held in Berlin, Germany (November 12-14), and Santa Clara, California (December 5-7), Qt Developer Days will be the first opportunity for Qt experts and developers around the world to gather since the full transfer of responsibility for Qt to Digia, occurred in September. At the Berlin event, Tommi Laitinen, SVP International Products, Digia will unveil the future global Qt strategy in the keynote address “Qt – Gearing up for the Future”.

As custodian of the Qt Project, Digia is committed to working with the Qt community to ensure the continuing development of open source and commercially licensed software in a manner that benefits all users. By harnessing the knowledge, expertise and commitment of all members of the Qt ecosystem, Digia intends to make Qt the leading cross-platform application development framework. Joint co-hosting of Qt Developer Days 2012 with ICS and KDAB is a testament of how the Qt ecosystem is working together to further extend the reach of Qt.

Used by over 450,000 developers worldwide, Qt is a full framework that enables the development of powerful, interactive and platform-independent applications. Qt applications run native on desktop, embedded and mobile host systems, enabling them to deliver performance that is far superior to other cross-platform application development frameworks. Qt’s support for multiple platforms and operating systems allows developers to save significant time related to porting to other devices.

Qt Developer Days 2012 is the premier Qt event of the year where Qt enthusiasts join to learn about the latest developments on Qt and get insight into the development roadmap. The three-day event includes a full day of hands-on training, technical tracks, customer success stories, demonstrations of ground-breaking applications and plenty of time for networking with both novice and long-term Qt users. As customary, the events will host keynote speeches by industry luminaries. More information can be found at www.qtdeveloperdays.com.

Juhapekka Niemi, Director, Digia, Qt, commented: “It is exciting to continue the tradition of Qt Developer Days and we are happy to join forces with ICS and KDAB. We are looking forward to two fantastic events where we will discuss the way forward for Qt and present our Qt strategy.”

“ICS is pleased to join forces with Digia and KDAB in presenting Qt Developer Days 2012,” said Peter Winston, CEO of ICS. “Qt Developer Days remains the key event of the year for members of the Qt ecosystem to gain insight into the latest developments with Qt. Working together on these events and into the future, ICS, KDAB and Digia will help drive Qt to great new heights. ICS is proud to organize Qt Developer Days in Santa Clara and we look forward to welcoming Qt developers from all over the world.”

"At KDAB, we understand the importance of providing the Qt ecosystem with a high-quality continuation of the Qt Developer Days, which is why we are pleased to work on this with Digia and ICS," said Kalle Dalheimer, President & CEO of KDAB. "The Qt Developer Days are the foremost event of learning, information exchange, and networking for Qt developers in Europe and North America, and we are sure the event will help Qt to become even greater and to attract even more developers. KDAB is proud to organize the Qt Developer Days in Berlin, and we look forward to meeting Qt developers from all countries and all levels of experience."
